Blazers are an absolute obsession of mine.
Back in my teenage years, I remember how I used to cringe every time my mother suggested that I wear one to whichever wedding/christening/insert-important-family-event-here was happening at the time. I used to roll my eyes and ask “Why the heck would I wear something that has 2 fricking centimetres of shoulder padding?!”. And she would replay nonchalantly “When you grow up, you will adore them”.
And I guess she was right. I don´t know if it´s because the shoulder padding has become more subtle, or maybe because the fabrics are definitely softer now (and machine-washable!), but at some point, in my early twenties I rediscovered blazers, and ever since I have managed to stock a pretty decent collection. I know it sounds very cliche, but blazers do always stay trendy. Unless you go for a super-duper-in-your-face print, you can have the certainty that a blazer will stay with you for a long time, adding to any outfit a very sophisticated touch.
The latest addition to my wardrobe is this lovely H&M piece, with golden-chain embellished cuffs. I found it hanging in a random rack in the store and it was love at first sight. When I realised it was the last one, and it was my size and part of the sale, my love grew even deeper.
It has a very classic cut, with fairly straight lines and no buttons, with the golden embellishments giving it the cherry-on-top touch.
For this outfit I have decided to keep it very casual, pairing the blazer with jeans, a t-shirt and ankle-cuffed wedges. The bag is identical to the one used in my previous post, but this time in black.
What do you think about embellished blazers?
